Inter Milan will be aiming for a second straight home win as they take on Udinese in round two of the Serie A season.
Inter made a perfect start to their campaign with a 5-0 win over Torino. It was the first time since 2003 they won their opening match under a foreign manager, and the first time since 1965 they scored five goals in a season opener. Inter have also won their first two home matches in each of the last four league seasons, and did so without conceding in the last two.
Udinese began with a 1-1 draw against Hellas Verona, which continued their positive form from pre-season, including five wins and a Coppa Italia victory over Carrarese. The club also announced the signing of striker Adam Buksa from Midtjylland. However, Udinese have struggled in away matches this year, with just two wins from ten league games on the road. They have also only won their first away league match once in the past nine seasons.
Inter have won the last six meetings against Udinese, scoring at least three goals in three of those matches. They have also won more than half of the 119 matches between the sides, with 63 wins, 32 draws, and 24 losses.
Inter won all ten of their home league matches last season against teams who finished in the bottom half of the table, scoring exactly three goals in five of those games. They have led at half-time without conceding in each of their last four home games. Only Verona conceded more goals in the first half of away matches than Udinese last season. Twelve of Udinese’s nineteen away matches also saw both teams score.
Lautaro Martínez has scored six times in twelve league matches against Udinese, and nine of his last twelve Serie A goals have come in the second half. Udinese defender Thomas Kristensen has scored twice in his last four league games, and his team have never lost when he has scored at senior level.
Udinese will be without suspended goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, but otherwise both teams are close to full strength.
Inter remain favourites based on their strong start and record against Udinese. A bet on Inter scoring at least three goals might be worth considering.
