PIOLI AFTER PLACING IN THE SEMI-FINALS: We have come a long way, we were considered outsiders…

The seven-time European champion, the Milan team qualified for the semi-finals of the Champions League last night after eliminating Napoli with a total score of 2:1, and Stefano Pioli points out that his team does not intend to stop there.

In the first match at “San Siro”, his team gained a minimal advantage, and yesterday thanks to a draw (1:1) they went on.

The coach of Milan does not hide his enthusiasm for this placement, and he also recalled the first European qualifiers with the Rossoneri, when they won a place in the Europa League against Rio Ave after a better penalty shootout.

“We also remember Rio Ave. We have come a long way. We were considered underdogs against Napoli, but I lead a group of players with a big heart. We showed our teeth and suffered at times, but deservedly went on. The 1:0 advantage from the first match helped us, but also hindered us to some extent.

We let them have the ball for too much time, but that’s understandable. Many of our players have not played a match like this one. Everyone sacrificed, we were a team. We are happy because of the fans, who always supported us even when things were not going well. We are proud of them,” said Pioli.

In the semi-finals, Milan awaits the winner of the two-leg match between Inter and Benfica, where the Milan club has a two-goal lead from the first match before the rematch at ” Giuseppe Meazza“.

“I expect two even more beautiful and difficult matches. We have done a lot, but we have absolutely no intention of stopping,” said Pioli.

This year’s Champions League final will be played on June 10 at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.
