Are they planning to demolish Old Trafford?

One of the most famous stadiums, Old Trafford, may be demolished in the future because the owners of Manchester United are planning to build a new stadium.

According to the Daily Mail, there are three options for renovating the stadium, and demolishing and building a new one on the same site is just one of them. The new facility would receive about 90,000 fans, while Old Trafford currently receives only 75,000.

Another option is to renovate the South Stand and expand its capacity. The last option is to keep the stadium intact and renovate only the lodges and club premises.

What is especially interesting is that Gary Neville supported the original plan, that is, the demolition of the entire stadium and the construction of a new one. It is known how much Neville is against the current owners, and this is certainly an interesting position he represents.

The fans are, of course, against it. “Dream Theater” is an icon of English football, and indeed, world football. Renovation and demolition are not the same thing.

The only positive thing about this whole situation is that the media also reports that the most probable option is just to expand and renovate the south stand. The architect is expected to be chosen soon, after which the club will announce what will happen to the Old Trafford, which has existed for 112 years.
