Valletta St Paul's win Joe Compagno Cup

Valletta St Paul’s clinched the first honour of the season after winning the Joe Compagno Cup. They saw off San Ġiljan Saints 1-0 to continue their trophy winning momentum after achieving the treble last season.

It was a game that brought together the First Division champions against the MAFA KO finalists. The match was a scrappy one with Valletta who began to dominate possession and with San Ġiljan who began to operate with counterattacks.

The goal that decided the match was scored on 28 minutes when it was Mamadou Jallow who advanced from the right and crossed well to the unmarked Elton da Silva who beat Marlon Binot with a low shot.

San Ġiljan tried to create some chances  but the Valletta rearguard was in fine form so as soon as the referee whistled the end of the match, they could celebrate this first success of the season.   At the end of the match, MFA vice-president Adrian Casha presented the cup to Valletta St Paul’s captain Leandro Camilleri.

Referee: Igor Kankarash
