Marsa St Michael strengthened their third position in the MAFA First Division table after beating Balluta Barracudas 5-2.
It was a collective performance by Malcolm Tirchett’s boys who by the end of the first half were already 3-1 up.
In the second half they managed the match although Balluta never gave up an inch.
Lamin Saho put Marsa St Michael over so that Daniel Zammit Lupi equalized for Balluta from the penalty spot. Before the end of the first half, Lamin Jaiteh and Juan Navarro Mulero scored two more goals to put Marsa ahead.
In the second half, Jaiteh helped himself with a personal double for the fourth goal with Arthur Santana Stelmach making it five. Four minutes from the end of the match, Timmy Zammit Lupi reduced the score again for Balluta.
Referee was Gjorgji Bitri.
San Ġiljan Saints got their second win of the season after beating Mqabba Albions 4-0.
The Saints dominated possession and created several scoring opportunities although there was a stalemate in th first half.
In the second half, the Saints came out well and after Jamie Bowlby Whiting put them on top, Roel Tusha and Julien Muller added two more for their team. Bowlby Whiting scored a personal double two minutes from the end of the match for a final score of 4-0.
Referee was Lorry Sammut.
In the second division league, Senglea Gunners and Birżebbuġa St Peter’s AFC achieved important victories to maintain the highest positions in the table.
Senglea Gunners are now joint leaders with Valletta Stars St Dominic after beating Gudja Wanderers 3-1.
After scoring an initial goal, Cottonera side kept dictating the game and in this way secured the three final points.
Luis Miguel De Oliveira put Senglea on top so that in the second half, Anthony Spiteri and Ola Olajde scored two more goals. Elias Beltran reduced the scoring margin for Gudja Wanderers who were suffering their fifth consecutive defeat.
Referee was Jean Pierre Mifsud.
Two goals by Junior Ohalewe made all the difference for Birżebbuġa St Peter’s who beat Hamrun Amateurs 2-0.
This was an important victory for the Seasouthsiders who are now only one point away from the front duo Senglea Gunners and Valletta Stars St Dominic.
Referee was Sillah Alhasana.
St Paul’s Bay NMFC got their first win in the third division league after beating Naxxar Victorians 2-1.
It was a dramatic goal by Seru Hang Nemband that gave the three points to the Nepali team with the Victorians who can feel unlucky that they didn’t get at least a point from this encounter.
Earlier, Bishal Khawash had put St Paul’s Bay ahead with Fabrizio Farrugia who brought a momentary draw for Naxxar.
