LOTHAR MATTHAUS BOUGHT A CLUB IN GHANA: We want to bring young players to Europe

The legendary German footballer Lothar Matthaus bought the Accra Lions Football Club, which competes in the First League of Ghana, the German Bild reported.

He decided on that move with two other associates.

Ghana has always had great potential for talent, you can see that from the national team. We want to bring young players to Europe. In a serious way and already well trained. That’s why we invest in training grounds here,” said the record holder for the number of appearances for the German national team.

Bild writes that the club was sold for two million euros, but it is not known how much Matthaus allocated.

After the end of his playing career, Lothar Matthaus worked as a coach, he led Partizan in the Champions League, but he has been inactive since 2011, when he worked for the Bulgarian national team.
