Lothar Matthäus: Bayern has no chance of winning the Bundesliga title

Former German footballer and ex-Bayern player, Lothar Matthäus, said that Bayer Leverkusen will win the Bundesliga championship title. Two days ago, Leverkusen defeated Bayern 3-0, and they are currently at the top of the table.

Lothar Matthäus wrote in a column for Sky Sport: “Leverkusen deservedly won, Bayern didn’t stand a chance. It’s hard for me to say, but Bayern has no chance of winning the Bundesliga title. It hasn’t happened in a long time. I was very surprised that Bayern didn’t utilize stars who have Bayern DNA in the game. If I were Thomas Tuchel, I would rely on Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Kimmich, and Thomas Müller, especially in the match against Leverkusen.”

The former Bayern player also criticized Tuchel for some of his actions: “There will definitely be some internal discussions at Bayern after this defeat. It is known that there are dissatisfied players in the Bayern locker room. Experiments like a €70 million player staying on the bench, despite being in top form, because preference is given to a new player who is supposed to be a reinforcement, create a bad atmosphere. A coach can irritate, ignore, or neglect the locker room, but then he must win convincingly. Tuchel didn’t succeed in that. The situation at Bayern is not good, and the result of that is evident on the field.”

Lothar Matthäus played for Bayern twice, from 1984 to 1988 and from 1992 to 2000.
