Liverpool develops modern approach: new manager to be selected with the help of AI

Former Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards and ex-manager Jurgen Klopp have developed data analytics to such a level that it will be consulted for the selection of the new manager.

At Anfield, over the past nine years, they have perfected software that analyzes potential signings, rivals, and even competing managers, which will be crucial in compiling a shortlist of candidates for the Reds’ managerial position from the 2024/25 season.

Essentially, Liverpool aims to bring in a coach who will build upon everything Klopp achieved during his tenure. According to sources close to the club, as reported by London’s “The Times,” their former player Xabi Alonso and Roberto De Zerbi are emerging as natural choices, given the similarities with Klopp that are recognized even without the consultation of artificial intelligence.

The seriousness with which Liverpool is approaching the selection of a future manager is evident, as the president of the FSG group, Mike Gordon, will lead the selection of potential candidates and conduct interviews. The group will also include Liverpool’s director of the development center, Will Spearmen.
