Dominik Livaković: We are the best when it is the hardest!

The goalkeeper of the Croatian national team, Dominik Livaković, is the hero of the nation after he saved three penalties in the triumph of the “fiery” team over Japan.

Croatia won the quarter-finals of the World Cup, and Dinamo Zagreb goalkeeper Dominik Livaković is the most deserving of that!

After 90 minutes it was 1:1 against the Japanese, there were no goals in overtime, and then in the penalty shootout, the keeper of the net of the popular “Fire” stopped the shots of Minamine, Mitomi and Yoshida, and became only the third goalkeeper in history who during the penalty shootout saved three shots. That was exactly what Danijel Subasic did in Russia four years ago in a duel with the Danes, and earlier, in 2006, the Portuguese Ricardo against England.

“The feeling is great, mostly because of the team and the atmosphere. Thank you to all the fans for coming and thank God that everything ended well in the end. The Japanese were excellent, they pressed from the start. They did it superbly. They are very ready, but so are we. We played 120 difficult minutes, but we won when it was the most difficult. This is my favorite moment of my career”, said the 27-year-old Livaković.

It is interesting that on the way to the final in Russia four years ago, Croatia played penalties against Denmark and Russia, while the English were eliminated after 120 minutes of play…
