Robert Lewandowski maintained his blazing form, netting two goals as Barcelona routed Sevilla to reclaim their three-point advantage in La Liga.
At 36 years old, Lewandowski has amassed 14 goals in 12 matches across all competitions—scoring 10 in his last six. This performance came as Hansi Flick’s team delivered a strong answer to Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Celta Vigo on Saturday.
Barcelona, having triumphed in nine of their initial ten league fixtures, led 3-0 by half-time for the third consecutive match after Lewandowski scored on either side of Pedri’s stunning first-time effort.
Lewandowski slotted a penalty into the bottom corner in the 24th minute after Raphinha was brought down with minimal contact by Peque Fernandez.
Pedri hammered the ball in from the edge of the area just four minutes later, before Lewandowski—having been thwarted at close range by Orjan Nyland moments earlier—secured his second by connecting with Raphinha’s assist.
The Polish striker Lewandowski is now tied as the third-highest scorer ever in Europe’s top-five leagues, level with Jimmy Greaves on 366 goals and trailing only Cristiano Ronaldo (495) and Lionel Messi (496).
Pablo Torre netted twice late on, either side of Stanis Idumbo’s goal for the visitors, who were outclassed by a free-flowing Barcelona side.
