Maltese international defender Kurt Shaw is set to join Italian side Sorrento Calcio.
Shaw, widely regarded as one of the most promising central defenders in the Maltese Islands, is coming off a three-year spell with Hibernians. During his time at the club, he played a key role in their recent FA Trophy triumph, scoring the winning goal in the 2–1 final victory over Birkirkara.
His contract with Hibernians expired at the end of last season. While the Paola-based club was keen to renew his deal, Shaw opted for a move abroad after receiving an offer from Sorrento for the upcoming season.
In a Facebook post, Shaw expressed his gratitude towards Hibernians FC for the past three years and said he was proud to have worn the club’s black and white shirt.
Sorrento Calcio currently compete in Italy’s Serie C and finished 14th in Group C last season.
Shaw has made 134 appearances in the Malta Premier League, scoring 11 goals and providing three assists. He has also earned 29 caps for the Maltese national team.
