Italian football club Juventus has expressed its “full support” to Nicolo Fagioli, two days after the Italian footballer was suspended for seven months for betting.
Fagioli has agreed to a settlement with the Italian Football Federation that calls for him to undergo treatment for his gambling addiction.
“We are firmly convinced that Nicolo, with the support of the club, his teammates, family and professionals who will help him, will face the therapeutic and training process with a great sense of responsibility and when he has served his sentence, he will be able to return to competition in peace”, he states. in the announcement of Juventus.
Faggioli, who was already seeing a therapist for a gambling problem, informed the Italian FA prosecutor about the case and is working with authorities to get his sentence commuted.
This allowed the minimum ban of three years for punters who bet on football matches to be significantly reduced.
The federation said Fagioli’s ban began on Thursday, meaning he could return for Juventus’ final two Serie A matches in May.
