Juventus footballer Paul Pogba will miss the upcoming Italian Cup quarter-final match against Lazio due to thigh muscle pain, according to Turin club coach Massimiliano Allegri.
The French midfielder was on the bench in the last Serie A match against Monza (0:2). Due to a knee injury, he has not played a single official match since April last year, when he played for Manchester United.
He returned to Juventus last summer and signed a four-year contract.
“Unfortunately, when a player is without physical activity for months, the pain appears as soon as the training intensity increases,” said Allegri.
Pogba underwent surgery in September, and the 29-year-old footballer also missed the World Cup in Qatar.
“His knee has to adjust, we have to manage in this situation, there are no miracles,” Allegri added, not speculating on the possibility of Pogba playing in the next Serie A match against Salernitana.
The Juventus players will welcome the Lazio team on Thursday (9:00 p.m.), in the quarter-final match of the Italian Cup. The winner will play against defending champions Inter in the semi-finals.
