This site has learned that the Football Association is in discussions with Thomas Tuchel’s representatives, positioning the German coach as the leading candidate to take over as England’s manager. Some of the British media is also reporting this story
Since his departure from Bayern Munich in May, Tuchel has been without a position. Two weeks ago, Sky Sports News reported that the FA had not yet made an official approach to Tuchel or any of the other top contenders, such as Jurgen Klopp, Graham Potter, and Eddie Howe.
Recently, however, it appears that the FA has intensified its efforts to find Gareth Southgate’s successor. This follows England’s Nations League loss to Greece and interim manager Lee Carsley’s unclear statements regarding his own future. Over the past 48 hours some media outlets had mentioned Pep Guardiola as the possible successor of Southgate.
