In a thrilling finish at Stade Louis II, Monaco secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Montpellier with a goal in the dying moments of stoppage time. Midfielder Lamine Camara found the net eight minutes into added time, curling a beautiful shot from the edge of the penalty area after receiving a clever pass from Breel Embolo. This win propelled Monaco to level on points with Paris Saint-Germain at the top of Ligue 1, both teams now boasting 16 points after six matches.
The match didn’t start in Monaco’s favor, as they fell behind early to Rabby Nzingoula’s goal after a midfield turnover. However, the home side rallied, with United States forward Folarin Balogun equalizing in the 32nd minute. Balogun latched onto Embolo’s reverse pass, scoring his second goal in as many games and bringing the crowd back to life.

Meanwhile, Jonathan David shone for Lille, scoring a hat trick in a commanding 3-0 victory over Le Havre. David, who opted to stay with Lille despite strong interest from larger European clubs, has been in sensational form, netting seven goals this season. His first two goals came from assists by new signing Osame Sahraoui, while his third was set up by Edon Zhegrova.
In contrast, Nice and Lens played to a goalless draw in Saturday’s other fixture. Nice struggled to find their rhythm after their stunning 8-0 victory against Saint-Étienne the previous week, with goalkeeper Marcin Bulka playing a pivotal role in securing the point. Lens forward Anass Zaroury was sent off late in the match, adding to the frustrations for the home side.
Earlier in the week, PSG maintained their strong start to the season with a 3-1 victory over Rennes, further intensifying the competition at the top of the league.
