Como have officially confirmed the acquisition of Sergi Roberto, a versatile former Barcelona midfielder, on a permanent basis after his contract with the Catalan giants expired earlier this summer.
The 32-year-old has signed a two-year contract, which will keep him at the newly-promoted Serie A team until the summer of 2026.
“I view this as a fresh challenge in my career. I have great faith in the project and have had the opportunity to meet the owners, who are highly enthusiastic about it. I believe they are making the right moves, and I am delighted to be a part of it,” stated the player on the club’s website.
“When Cesc initially reached out to me, he outlined the club’s aspirations of progressing from lower divisions to Serie A within five years, as well as his own coaching ambitions. This prospect excites me as I will be able to contribute to the club’s growth.

I believe that through hard work, I can assist in achieving the club’s objectives and I am eager to commence this journey.”
Sergi Roberto, who is versatile in both midfield and right-back positions, accumulated a total of 373 appearances in various competitions for Barcelona’s senior team. He made his professional debut way back in November 2010.
Sergi Roberto becomes the latest addition to the project led by Cesc Fabregas this summer, joining a distinguished group of high-profile players. Among them are Andrea Belotti from Roma, Raphael Varane, a former defender for Real Madrid and Manchester United, as well as Pepe Reina and Alberto Moreno, both former Liverpool veterans.
In addition, the Serie B runners-up of the 2023-24 season have secured agreements for Albert Dossena, Gabriel Strefezza, Yannick Engelhardt, Emil Audero, Alieu Fadera, Matthias Braunöder, Marco Curto. Furthermore, they have also obtained loan deals for Luca Mazzitelli and Ali Jasim.
