ON TODAY'S DAY: Heskey's 100th career goal back in 2003 (VIDEO)

Former England representative Emile Heskey scored the 100th goal in his career on this day in 2003.

The goal that confirmed Liverpool’s great turnaround at “Anfield” against Birmingham (3:1) was the 100th anniversary for the English representative.

Chris Kirkland, Sami Hipia, Jimmy Traore, Jon Arne Rise, Salif Diao, Igor Bišćan, Harry Kewell, El Hadji Diouf, Dietmar Hamann, Florent Sinama Pongol and Emile Heskey played for Liverpool in that period.

Birmingham took the lead in that match with a goal in the 33rd minute through Mikel Forsell, only for Steven Gerrard to equalize just two minutes later.

The turnaround was brought by Harry Kewell with a goal in the 69th minute, followed by Heskey’s Eurogoal in the 78th minute.

A year later, Birmingham was his new club, but the goal at “Anfield” remained in the memory of Liverpool fans.

He played 62 games for the England national team and scored seven goals.

He was remembered by the Montenegrin public when he left a comment on social media during the match between Montenegro and England in 2013 and Damjanović’s goal for a 1:1 draw:

“I will change my name to Heskivić and play for Montenegro“.

He ended his career in 2016 in the Bolton jersey.
