Former Chelsea midfielder Oscar has been taken to hospital after suffering heart problems during pre-season medical tests, his club São Paulo has confirmed.
As the players were preparing for the 2026 season, the club said that Oscar “showed a complication with cardiac changes”. The 34-year-old was immediately helped by club staff and doctors from Einstein Hospital Israelita, who were present at the training ground.
He was then taken to hospital, where he is said to be in a stable condition and under observation while more tests are carried out to understand the issue. São Paulo added that further updates will be shared when available, in agreement with the player and while respecting his privacy.
Oscar, who won two Premier League titles with Chelsea, spent much of his career at Shanghai Port, where he lifted two Chinese Super League trophies and became one of the best-known foreign players in China. He returned to his first club, São Paulo, last December on a three-year contract.
