Timo Werner left Chelsea after two seasons and returned to the place of success – Red Bull Leipzig. The German took the opportunity to say goodbye to his former club!
The German footballer arrived from Leipzig two years ago for 50,000,000 euros.
Now the club from London has decided to return it to the Germans for twice as much money.
His odyssey on the team level was not bad, as an individual, during his stay at “Stamford Bridge” he managed to win the Champions League trophy.
How important this period was for Werner is evidenced by the farewell letter he wrote to the “Blues”.
– Dear Blues,
Today is the day I end my journey to Chelsea. I am indescribably grateful for the time I spent at this special club. I would like to take this moment to express my gratitude to my teammates, coaches and staff, and especially to you, the amazing Chelsea fans. I have felt so much love and support during my last two years and I will never forget how you supported me through the good times as well as the challenging times. We lifted trophies like the Champions League together and I will always remember the song you wrote and sang for me. I’m already looking forward and hope to play at Stamford Bridge again one day – wrote the former Chelsea player on his Twitter account.
Do you think Werner could have been given another chance at Stamford Bridge this season?
