Ten Hag defends Maguire: He is a captain, and he sets an example for others

Erik ten Hag, the coach of Manchester United, spoke before the duel with Brighton in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and on this occasion stood up for Harry Maguire.

The “Red Devils” footballer was the target of criticism after two big mistakes in the two-match tie against Sevilla.

However, ten Hag is currently emphasizing the fight for another trophy in the season.

“Every game is a test, every season is a test. You have to deserve to wear this jersey. It’s the same when you’re a manager. We are all in the same boat. During the season we made progress. We have gained experience, but we still have work to do. This is a big opportunity for us, the semi-final of the FA Cup. After that, we have more big games for the players to prove themselves”, said Ten Haag.

He failed to avoid questions about his team’s captain.

“He has an important role. He is the captain, communicates with the manager, motivates the team, and sets an example”, added the United coach.

The match between Manchester United and Brighton at Wembley is scheduled for Sunday at 17:30.
