Manchester City’s hopes of taking the lead in the Premier League were dashed as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest, following their win against Arsenal just a few days ago.
This result leaves them two points behind Arsenal, who have a game in hand. It’s undoubtedly a cause for celebration for Mikel Arteta’s side, who are in the running for the championship title.
Star striker Erling Haaland had an off day, with many missed opportunities and arguably his worst performance since joining City. Meanwhile, the hero of the day for Forest was Chris Wood, who scored a late goal in the 85th minute to shock the favorites.
City had worked hard to catch up to Arsenal and were poised to claim the top spot, but their efforts were in vain against a tough Forest side. They took an early lead with a goal from Bernardo Silva in the first half but failed to capitalize on many chances to extend their lead.
Elsewhere in the league, Aston Villa lost 2-4 to Arsenal, Brentford drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace, Brighton suffered a 0-1 defeat to Fulham, and Chelsea fell 0-1 to Southampton. Everton managed a 1-0 win over Leeds, while Wolverhampton lost 0-1 to Bournemouth.
