Liverpool were knocked out of the FA Cup in the fourth round by Plymouth Argyle in the biggest upset of the competition so far.
It was a day to forget for Liverpool supporters but one that Plymouth Argyle fans will cherish for years to come.
Arne Slot opted for a heavily rotated side, resting key players in both midfield and defence despite leading the Premier League table. Even so, Liverpool were still expected to progress against a Plymouth team languishing at the bottom of the EFL Championship in 24th place.
The decisive moment came in the second half when Darko Gyabi won a penalty after a flicked ball struck Harvey Elliott’s hand. The magic of the FA Cup came to life at Home Park as Ryan Hardie stepped up and calmly converted the spot-kick past Caoimhin Kelleher in the 53rd minute, sealing Plymouth’s famous victory.
