Liverpool Injury Update: Curtis Jones doubtful for Man United clash

Liverpool face a tough test this weekend as they travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United in the Premier League. Arne Slot’s side have won their opening two matches of the 2024-25 season, but may be without a key midfielder for Sunday’s big clash.

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Groin Possible return date: September 1 (vs. Man United)

Midfielder Curtis Jones missed Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Brentford last weekend due to a suspected groin injury sustained in training. Manager Arne Slot has admitted Jones is facing an uphill battle to be fit in time to face Manchester United.

“It’s going to be close, so we have to wait and see,” Slot explained regarding Jones’ availability. “He’s not going to be out for a long time, but it’s going to be close for him to be there next week. But I’m quite sure he’s going to try everything to be ready for next week.”

Clean Bill of Health Otherwise

Apart from Jones, Liverpool appear to have no other injury concerns heading into the Manchester United match. The Reds will be aiming to replicate their impressive 3-0 pre-season victory over United when they meet again on Sunday.

Liverpool currently sit joint-top of the Premier League table after two games, alongside Manchester City, Arsenal and Brighton & Hove Albion. A win at Old Trafford would see them maintain their perfect start under new boss Slot.

Kick-off at Old Trafford is at 17:00 local time on Sunday, September 1.
