Dani Alves played last season in the Barcelona jersey at the request of his former teammate, now coach, Xavi. After leaving, he had something to say to the club!
The Brazilian footballer is 39 years old and has proven that he can still play football at the highest level.
Let us remind you that the experienced right back wore the Barcelona jersey from 2008 to 2016, so he completed his second term last year.
- I don’t leave the team sad. I’m leaving happy because I’m back in Barcelona. I dreamed for five years, wanting to live that moment. The only thing I didn’t like was how my departure was designed – said Alves, then continued.
- Since I came back, I have said very clearly that I am no longer 20 years old and that I want everything to be done cleanly, without hiding. The club has been wrong in recent years and has done the exact opposite. Barcelona does not care about the people who wrote the history of the club. As a Barcelona fan, I would like the club to function differently. I’m not talking about myself because my situation was different. I am extremely grateful to Xavi and the president for bringing me back – the Brazilian added.
As he says, he was satisfied with what he found in Barcelona.
- I found a club full of young players with incredible ideas on the field. But Barcelona must improve their performance off the pitch. The thinking is completely opposite to what we were building a few years ago. Everything that happens on the field is a reflection of what happens outside it – concluded Alves.
