CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN: I was looking at death

Christian Eriksen was fighting for his life almost two years ago, he collapsed during the match between Denmark and Finland at the European Championship.

Fortunately, that story had a happy ending.

“I looked at death, and what I personally learned is that you really should enjoy every moment of your life, so if it’s not fun you should do something to make it fun,” Eriksen said.

“For me, it was much more important to return to life and be a man than to return and be a football player again. To be a father, a husband, that’s what fulfills. To be dedicated to work, too. That is the most important thing for me”.

He also touched on the days spent in the hospital.

“Just a day after the fall, I was watching a video of my collapse in the hospital. In fact, I watched it almost every day, but already tomorrow for the first time. I was aware and happy that I could watch it at all, because it’s a sign that I’m alive… And every time I watch it, it’s the same impression, the same feeling. You look at it and then you don’t really think about what it is. You just look and that’s it,” said Christian Eriksen.
