Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti did not want to talk much about, according to many, the debatable decision to award Messi the “Golden Ball”.
The Argentine reached the seventh recognition.
When asked if he would vote for the Messi, Ancelotti gave a diplomatic answer.
-My situation is different and I could not vote for a player who is not at Real. Therefore, if I had to vote, I would first vote for Benzema, then Vinicius, then Courtois. The fourth would be Casemiro, the fifth Kroos, the sixth Camavinga… But I have to respect the choice, Messi is one of the best. But if I had voted, it would have been for Benzema. – explained Carlo Ancelotti.
Although the journalists were persistent in getting an answer from Ancelotti whether Messi deserved recognition, they did not succeed.
-This election must be looked at fairly. Messi won and he is still a great player. No need to go any further… Individual rewards are important for players, but even if they don’t win them, nothing will happen. I hope that someone from Real will win next year. Benzema had a great year behind him, but finished in fourth place. He will continue to play motivated to be the first. – concluded Carlo Ancelotti
