Leicester coach Brendan Rodgers spoke about his team’s best player, James Maddison, and his contract, which he is not sure will be extended.
The excellent midfielder Madison’s contract with the “foxes” expires in 18 months and as things stand now, he is closer to leaving the “King Power” stadium.
“Talks have been going on for some time, so there is no change there. What is most important to me as a coach is that Madison, regardless of the current situation, plays the best he knows and can. He is an experienced player and needs to be focused,’ said Rodgers.
Brendan points out that James has improved a lot in the last couple of seasons, and that he has become a top footballer and that, despite this, he will not beg him to stay at the club if he wants to leave.
“We are that type of club, we will always develop and improve players. We can provide them with everything they require, but I won’t ask anyone, not even him, to stay if they don’t want to,’ pointed out Rogers.
Madison had a great start to the season, he was also part of England at the World Cup in Qatar, but after a knee injury he had to leave his colleagues from the national team.
Lester is currently in 13th place in the Premier League, and on Sunday they are visiting Manchester United at Old Trafford.
