Sliema Beach Soccer hand first defeat to champions Ħamrun SC

Sliema Beach Soccer stunned reigning champions Ħamrun SC with a thrilling 4-3 victory in one of the most exciting matches of the National Beach Soccer League. Determined to make up for their 6-3 loss in the first round against the same opponents, the Sliema side fought hard and got their revenge.

Goals for Sliema came from Saturday Nanapere, Roberto Fassari, Vincenzo Margiotta, and an own goal, while Ħamrun responded with three goals of their own in a tightly contested encounter. The match was officiated by Stefania Bonnici and Andrea Naudi.

In another dramatic game, La Playa de Arena had to dig deep to overcome WA Agency 3-2 after extra time. Daryl Micallef opened the scoring for La Playa, but WA Agency equalised through Wissam Bensaidi. Ali Abdelkadir then put WA Agency ahead before Ryan Dalli levelled the score late in the game. In extra time, it was again Micallef who stepped up to deliver the winning goal and seal the three points for La Playa. Referees for this match were Andrea Naudi and Darko Stankovic.

Meanwhile, Ħamrun were awarded a walkover win against WA Agency.

The final matches of the second round are set to be played this week before the playoffs begin. On Monday at 6:30pm, WA Agency will take on Sliema Beach Soccer, followed by a highly anticipated clash at 8:00pm between La Playa de Arena and Ħamrun Beach Soccer.
