ARTETA SINGLES OUT TROSSARD: He was impressive, he made the difference against Fulham

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta spoke after his team’s victory against Fulham (3:0), and he especially emphasized the game of Leandro Trossard.

Goals for Mikel Arteta’s team were scored by Gabriel, Martinelli and Odegaard, so Arsenal now has five points more than second-placed Manchester City.

“If we talk about calmness and making the right decision in the penalty area… When many players rush to pass, he is the opposite. He had three assists and could have scored two goals. He was really impressive”, said Arteta and added:

“Not only that, three days ago he suffered an injury that could have taken him seven to ten days, but he really wanted to come back earlier – the doctors worked hard to get him ready. We needed him today, and he made the difference”.

Gabriel Jesus also returned to the field after his injury, replacing Trossard in the 77th minute.

“A big wind at your back. Today was the first step. We didn’t know if this was the right match to bring him back. A few days ago he told me that he felt he was still missing something, but the day before the game I looked him in the eye and he told me: ‘I’m ready’. It was an opportunity to put him in – he seems free and ready, he immediately created two great chances. It’s great that he’s back. He will have to earn a place, as in any other team, we have different types of players, but it is good to have such a problem”, added the Spanish expert.

On Thursday, Arsenal is waiting for Sporting in the second leg of the round of 16 of the Europa League, after 2:2 in Lisbon, while the next match in the Premier League will be played against Crystal Palace at home on Sunday.
