Ahead of the highly anticipated Premier League derby between Arsenal and Manchester City, Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal manager, spoke to the press about his team’s chances for the title.
The Gunners made a big mistake in their last game, drawing with Southampton despite having a 3-1 lead until the very end of the match. Despite the setback, Arteta remains confident in his team’s chances.
“It’s not the end! We still have six games to go and of course there are concerns at the moment. It’s like that in football, sometimes there are periods and moments when you make mistakes, but it’s very important to forget that as soon as possible,” said Arteta.
He also praised his players’ attitude despite the disappointing result.
“We don’t lack self-confidence, it’s just a matter of those moments. At this level, you can’t concede goals like we concede. It’s that simple. I can’t help but love my players, because they didn’t hide and didn’t try to run away from responsibility. They didn’t say, ‘Okay, this has nothing to do with me,’ and I didn’t see any of them hiding. They did their best,” he said.
