Sergio Aguero confirmed at a press conference today that he is ending his professional football career due to health problems at the age of 33.
He confirmed that he is leaving Barcelona and that his professional football career is ending.
– Health comes first. The medical team told me that it was best to stop playing. I am leaving Barcelona, ending my professional football career. I did everything I could to see if there was any hope of continuing, but there was none – Aguero said at the press conference at the ” Nou Camp.
The Argentine thanked everyone he worked with during his career.
– I am proud of what I have achieved in my career. From the age of five, I dreamed of playing football. I want to thank Independiente, Atletico Madrid, who brought me when I was 18, and people from City, who already know how I feel. Barcelona, of course. I knew I was coming to one of the best clubs in the world. Thanks also to everyone in the national team of Argentina, which I loved the most. – said Aguero and added:

Aguero made the decision to withdraw from football a little over a week ago.
– I feel good now. The first two weeks were extremely difficult. When I did the first test at the clinic, the doctor told me that there was a chance that I would have to stop playing football. I’ve been thinking about it. It took me days to accept that. I was hoping it would be different. But now I’m fine – concluded Aguero.
He got sick on October 30 in the 41st minute of the duel with Alaves. He was then diagnosed with heart problems.
Aguero was in the hospital for a few days to perform the necessary analyses and observations, after which it was established that he must not continue to play football professionally because it would endanger his life.
The Argentine striker began his career with Independiente in 2003, and he has since played for Atletico Madrid since 2006, Manchester City since 2011, and will begin the season with Barcelona in 2021 before retiring.
He won the Europa League and the European Super Cup with Atletico. He was a five-time Premier League champion with City, while he won the Copa America with the Argentine national team this summer, and he also has a gold medal from the 2008 Olympic Games. In the youth national team under 20, he was a two-time world champion.
