FIFA has announced that referees will wear body cameras for the first time during the Club World Cup in the United States. Some of the footage will even be shown live to fans watching the matches.
Another major update is a new offside detection system. It uses Artificial Intelligence, ball sensors, and multiple cameras to help make faster and more accurate decisions. VAR will still be used to check the system’s results in difficult situations.
FIFA says this year’s expanded 32-team tournament will be a testing ground for these new technologies. The aim is to improve the game’s fairness and give fans a better experience.
