Tuchel Pursues Manchester United's Casemiro for Bayern Munich Midfield

Bayern Munich’s head coach, Thomas Tuchel, is reportedly looking to strengthen his midfield options by signing Manchester United’s Casemiro in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Casemiro, who joined the Red Devils from Real Madrid in a £70m deal last year, has established himself as a key player under Erik ten Hag, scoring five goals and providing seven assists in 44 appearances.

The Brazilian midfielder’s leadership and experience in the defensive midfield role have significantly improved Manchester United‘s performances, propelling them to compete for a place in the top four of the Premier League and reach the FA Cup final.

Tuchel reportedly sees Casemiro as the missing piece to his midfield puzzle, and the German news outlet Kicker claims that he has identified the 31-year-old as his primary midfield target this summer. Tuchel believes that his current midfield options, including Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Ryan Gravenberch, and Konrad Laimer, do not possess the necessary skill set to operate in the defensive midfield role to match his philosophy.

However, Casemiro is under contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2026, and the Brazilian midfielder intends to retire as a Red Devils player. Whether or not Tuchel’s pursuit of Casemiro comes to fruition remains to be seen, but it is clear that the Bayern Munich boss sees the Brazilian midfielder as a key target to strengthen his midfield and challenge for titles.

Bayern Munich is also in the market for a new center-forward, with Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani all said to be on their radar.
