Peter Fenech to run again for Vice President role at MFA

Dr Peter Fenech has officially submitted his candidacy this morning for the role of Vice President of the Malta Football Association (MFA).

Dr Fenech is a familiar face in Maltese football. He previously served as MFA Vice President between 2007 and 2010, actively involved in various club development projects. He was elected as Lija Athletic Football Club President in 2018 and currently sits on the MFA Executive Board. In June 2023, Dr Fenech was reconfirmed as president of the Challenge League Standing Committee. His background in civil and commercial law, particularly in administration, restructuring and financial matters, translates directly to the challenges faced by Maltese clubs today. 

“Clubs require experience, energy and commitment, which is what I offer to the game and its structures”.

In a commitment to his campaign message of “Strengthening Clubs to face the challenges of the future,” in the coming days and weeks, Dr Fenech will be meeting with club members, delegates and stakeholders for an open dialogue about their priorities to continue bringing much-needed changes to Maltese Football. 

About Peter Fenech: 

Dr Peter Fenech Graduated from the University of Malta in 1993 and subsequently read for a Masters Degree in European Studies at Sussex University.In 2011, Peter Fenech founded IURIS Advocates, specialising in civil and commercial law with a focus on litigation. 

He has extensive experience in company administrations, restructuring, liquidations, and related insolvency matters. Additionally, Peter provides regular counsel to public entities on issues spanning public procurement and administrative law. He has lectured and examined at the University of Malta and the Richard Clarke Academy and currently teaches the ACCA module “Corporate and Business Law” at PWC Academy.  

Peter has chaired various public entities, including the Mediterranean Conference Centre and the Manoel Theatre, and served as a former Vice President of the Malta Football Association. Presently, he holds the positions of Director at MelitaUnipol Insurance Agency Ltd, member of the Broadcasting Authority, President of Lija Football Club, and member of the Executive Board of the Malta Football Association.

In August 2023, he was elected President of the Chamber of Advocates.
