AiMS' doping control system goes digital

The Authority for Integrity in Maltese Sport (AiMS) has successfully implemented a fully digital, paperless doping control system — a milestone that highlights its progressive vision and strong commitment to innovation in the field of anti-doping.

This significant advancement follows a dedicated investment in both personnel training and the procurement of high-end equipment to support the digital transition. Over recent weeks 16 accredited Maltese Doping Control Officers (DCOs) participated in a specialised training programme delivered by Mr. Christian Spies from PWC – Professional Worldwide Controls. This internationally recognised organisation offers expert services to support anti-doping bodies, including the global coordination of in and out-of-competition testing, and the provision of MODOC — one of the most advanced mobile paperless documentation systems used worldwide.

In addition to its clear environmental advantages, this digital shift enhances data accuracy while strengthening the integrity, confidentiality, and security of doping control records in Malta.

Commenting on the initiative, Ignatius Zammit, Head of the Testing and Intelligence Department, stated: “We are proud to be among the few small National Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs) that have adopted a fully digital doping control system, aligning ourselves with the practices of larger, more established counterparts.”
