Die Schwarzgelben ran out comfortable 2-0 winners against the 10 men of 1.FC Heidenheim.
Injury-hit Borussia Dortmund secured their first away victory of the season with a strong start in Heidenheim, as Karim Adeyemi tested Diant Ramaj within seconds of kickoff. Misfortune quickly struck the hosts when Leart Paqarada twisted his ankle on the turf, forcing Frank Schmidt into an early substitution with Jonas Föhrenbach slotting in at left-back.
BVB kept up the pressure, with Serhou Guirassy drawing another save from Ramaj at close range. Matters worsened for Heidenheim after Budu Zivzivadze was shown a straight red card in the 22nd minute for a reckless challenge on Felix Nmecha. Ramaj continued to stand tall, producing a fine stop to deny Dortmund’s Malian striker from a powerful header.
The breakthrough eventually came past the half-hour mark: Ryerson’s cross found Guirassy, who guided a delicate header into the corner. Heidenheim nearly equalized through a clever set-piece routine, only for Honsak’s effort to be blocked. Instead, Dortmund doubled their lead before the interval when Adeyemi burst in behind and unselfishly squared for Maxi Beier to finish.
After the restart, Aaron Ibrahimović lifted the home fans with a dazzling run and fierce strike that forced Gregor Kobel into his first real save. Shortly after the hour, Niko Kovač opted for a double change, introducing Jobe Bellingham and Carney Chukwuemeka for the booked Adeyemi and Pascal Groß.
With Dortmund comfortably in control, Jobe created another opening for Guirassy, only for Ramaj to thwart him once more. Chukwuemeka and Nmecha both threatened from distance, but the result was never in doubt. The Westphalian giants eased to a routine three points on the road, building momentum ahead of their European clash with Juventus.
