Ħamrun SC has officially filed a formal protest regarding the controversial 2025 Beach Soccer final, citing serious procedural breaches and safety concerns that they believe directly impacted the outcome of the match.
In a strongly worded press release, the Maltese club outlined two major grievances. First, they claim that match officials failed to enforce standard pre-match verification protocols, a procedural error that Ħamrun says disrupted their game preparation and strategic execution. The confusion stemming from this breach reportedly continued into the second half, undermining their tactical focus at a crucial point in the match.
The second, and arguably more serious, concern relates to player safety. According to Ħamrun SC, several of their players sustained serious injuries during the match due to aggressive conduct from the opposition. They allege that these acts of violence went unpunished by officials, despite being visible to both spectators and captured on video. Some players were even forced to stop playing, significantly reducing the team’s depth and affecting their ability to implement their match plan.
The club has submitted video footage, photographs, official reports, and medical documentation as part of their protest. They are calling for accountability, fair rule enforcement, and a transparent investigation into the events.
“Ħamrun SC has always competed with professionalism and respect for the game,” the statement reads. “But when rules are not enforced, and players are left unprotected, we will speak up.”
The club now awaits a response from competition authorities, hoping for what they describe as a “serious and transparent resolution.”
