Maltese Olympic Committee hosts 45th EOC Seminar and Olympic Solidarity Forum

The Maltese Olympic Committee is currently hosting the 45th European Olympic Committees (EOC) Seminar and Olympic Solidarity Forum in Malta, taking place on 3-4 October 2025. This event brings together National Olympic Committees (NOCs) from across Europe for open discussions, collaboration, and practical sharing of ideas and experiences.

This year’s seminar is being held in partnership with Olympic Solidarity, showing a shared goal of supporting athletes and strengthening sport through well-planned programmes. The two-day event includes six workshops focusing on key topics such as good governance, athlete representation and integrity, sustainable development, digital communication, and improving NOC operations through innovation.

Malta was chosen to host this important event in September 2024. This reflects the country’s long-standing support for the Olympic Movement and its strong record in organising international sporting events.

During the opening of the seminar, Maltese Olympic Committee President Julian Pace Bonello said:

“Malta is honoured to host the 45th EOC Seminar and Olympic Solidarity Forum. This event is not only about sharing good practices, but also about shaping the future of sport. It’s about making sure sport continues to inspire, unite, and empower young people across borders and generations. We look forward to meaningful discussions, new friendships, and shared commitment.”

Also present at the opening was the European Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Culture, Youth and Sport, His Excellency Glenn Micallef, who said:

“Sport in Europe is more than just competition. It is about community, fairness, and opportunity. I believe that European sport must stay close to the people , grounded in our local clubs, communities, and grassroots programmes.”

In his address, EOC President Spyros Capralos, who led an Executive Committee meeting the day before the seminar began, spoke about the purpose of the event:

“The EOC Seminar has always been more than just a regular meeting. It is a time for our Olympic family to go beyond formal discussions, to have open and useful exchanges, and to create an environment where NOCs can share experiences and ideas. We want everyone to return home with insights they can apply in their everyday work.”

Over the years, Malta has built a strong reputation as a reliable host of international sports events. It has successfully organised the Games of the Small States of Europe in 1993, 2003, and most recently in 2023. Hosting the 45th EOC Seminar and Olympic Solidarity Forum continues this legacy, and further establishes Malta as a centre for sporting dialogue, cooperation, and the promotion of Olympic values.

The Maltese Olympic Committee expressed its gratitude to SportMalta for its financial support through the Sports Tourism Scheme.
