This weekend, the Royal Malta Golf Club hosted its second major event of the season, the Laferla Wedgwood Trophy, which has been played since 1992.
More than 100 golfers took part, with strong scoring across both days helped by warm and calm weather. In the lead-up to the event, players spent plenty of time practising as they prepared for one of the club’s biggest competitions.
On Day 1, Denis Baltzis led the way with an excellent score of 7 under par. He was followed closely by Andrew Naudi on 6 under and Pontus Kinder on 5 under, keeping things tight going into the final day.
On Day 2, the high level of play continued. Avnish Dahl delivered another strong round, while Panos Baltzis also impressed with 5 under par, closing the gap on his brother Denis. Young players Moss Kiberu (10) and Alex Ganado (12) also stood out, both scoring 3 under par and showing great promise for the future of golf in Malta.

After the two days, the winner was decided by the lowest total score. Avnish Dahl won with 9 under par, followed by Denis Baltzis in second on 8 under, and Panos Baltzis in third on 7 under.
