Senegal finished top of their group at the Africa Cup of Nations after a comfortable 3-0 win over Benin.
Despite already being in a strong position, Senegal named a powerful starting team but took some time to settle. Benin, who still had hopes of finishing in the top two, started well and made the opening stages difficult. Senegal gradually took control and broke the deadlock five minutes before half-time when Seck headed home from a well-delivered corner by Krepin Diatta, after a VAR check confirmed the goal.
Senegal started the second half brightly and continued to create chances. Ismaila Diallo came close before finally getting his goal after Sadio Mané worked space down the wing and picked him out with a low cross. Mané was a constant threat and caused Benin problems throughout the match.
The game briefly changed when captain Kalidou Koulibaly was sent off following a VAR review, leaving Senegal with ten men for the final stages. However, it made little difference as Cherif Ndiaye added a third goal late on to seal a comfortable victory.
The result means Senegal qualify for the knockout stage as group winners and will face one of the best third-placed teams. Benin also progress as one of the strongest third-placed sides, but they are likely to face a much tougher opponent in the next round.
