Women’s 10km open water race postponed over water safety concerns

World Aquatics has postponed the Women’s 10km open water swimming event at the Singapore 2025 World Aquatics Championships. This decision was made after recent water tests showed unsuitable water quality at the competition venue.

The race was meant to take place on 15 July at 8:00 a.m., but following a review by World Aquatics, local organisers, and medical and technical committees, it was decided that postponing was the safest option for the athletes.

Although earlier tests were fine, water samples taken on 13 July showed levels above the safe limit. To protect the health of the swimmers, the event was postponed.

Further water testing will be carried out over the next few days, and the final decision on whether the event will go ahead will be based on those results.

Updated Schedule:

    • Men’s 10km – 7:30 SGT
