Newcastle’s Alexander Isak opened the scoring in the 13th minute, exploiting a mistake by Chelsea’s Thiago Silva. Chelsea responded with a stunning free-kick goal by Raheem Sterling in the 23rd minute. However, Newcastle reclaimed the lead in the second half with a goal from Jamaal Lascelles, quickly followed by a strike from Joelinton, making it 3-1. Anthony Gordon sealed the victory with a goal in the 83rd minute.
Newcastle now sits at sixth place with 23 points, while Chelsea is tenth with 16 points. In their next fixtures, Newcastle will host Manchester United, and Chelsea will welcome Brighton.
In another match, West Ham United clinched a 2-1 away victory against Burnley. Burnley initially led with a penalty goal by Jay Rodriguez in the 49th minute, but West Ham overturned the result with late goals from Divin Mubama and Tomas Soucek.
West Ham is now ninth with 20 points, and Burnley remains at the bottom with just four points. Burnley’s next match is against Sheffield United, while West Ham will host Crystal Palace.
Bournemouth secured a 3-1 away win against Sheffield United, with goals from Marcus Tavernier and Justin Kluivert. Sheffield United’s Oliver McBurnie scored in stoppage time. Bournemouth is now 16th with 12 points, while Sheffield United is second from the bottom with five points.
Other matches saw Luton Town beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at home, and Brighton achieved a 3-2 away win against Nottingham Forest.
