Whilst the National Broadcaster, PBS has millions to splurge on the Eurovision Song Contest and other programmes such as X Factor Malta, it could not find the necessary EUR 3,000 to secure rights to transmit Hamrun Spartans’ UEFA Conference League match later today.
Hamrun Spartans had to resort to crowdfunding to collect the necessary funds.
After posting on Facebook that money needed to be collected to enable PBS to buy the rights for the match, Hamrun supporters collected the necessary amount in a few hours.
This was the message posted to Spartans fans by the club.
“THANK YOU!
The Hamrun Spartans vs Balkani game will be broadcast thanks to YOU who heard the call and answered it. It is fitting that Hamrun Spartans fans and Maltese football fans have the opportunity to follow this match. It is very satisfying that in a very short time the sum of €3,000 was collected.
The Hamrunizi are always united as one with their team wherever they are! ForzaSpartans!”
