Early goal paves the way for first Zabbar St. Patrick win in 360Sports Malta Premier clash

Zabbar St. Patrick registered their first win in the 360Sports Malta Premier as they defeated Balzan 2-0 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Monday.

Zabbar, therefore, join Naxxar and Mosta on three points, one behind Balzan who suffered their second defeat in four matches.

Balzan had new signing Cerezo replacing the suspended Jan Busuttil while for Zabbar, Miguel Azzopardi and Strahinja Jovancic were preferred to Jake Micallef and Diogo Tavares.

The Saints had a perfect start, taking the lead after just two minutes when Kevin Williams lost the ball to Marcelo Santos on the left and the latter slotted the ball past goalkeeper Danilo Golovic from the edge of the area.

Zabbar doubled the score on 77 minutes when they were awarded a penalty after David Oliveira was brought down inside the area by Nicholas Pulis and from the penalty spot, Brian Gambarte made no mistake.
