The number one tennis player in the world, Poland’s Iga Swiatek, withdrew from the Miami Open due to a rib injury.
Swiatek, who won the tournament in Miami last year, was scheduled to play her first match on Thursday in the second round against Clara Liu.
After last week’s Indian Wells semi-final loss to Elena Rybakina, Swiatek said she had a rib problem.
“I still have to do some tests and see what happens. I don’t know yet”, said the Polish woman at the time.
Now she announced herself on social networks and confirmed: “that she made a difficult decision not to play in Miami, but that health is the most important thing”.
