Ruud is getting closer to the number 1 spot: I don't think I've ever had a better start to a match

Casper Ruud is getting closer to the goal he only dreamed of until now.

The Norwegian has a chance to become the best tennis player in the world, and he is one step closer to his dream after his victory over the Italian Matteo Berrettini with 6:1, 6:4, 7:6 (4).

” That dream is still alive. I played great, hitting everything I wanted from the first to the last point. I don’t think Berrettini was there, I took advantage of that. It was difficult to play under a closed roof, everything was a little slower, it didn’t have that speed, and there was more humidity inside.” – began Casper and continued:

Even though he is so close to the first place, he does not want to make it a burden on himself.

” I don’t want to think too much about it. It’s something every young player dreams of doing. Let’s see if I can make it happen. Of course, this is an additional motivation for me. If I’m lucky, I could leave New York as number one,” says Ruud.

Although he won against Matteo, the tennis player from Norway points out that not everything was great in the match.

“I don’t think I’ve ever had a better start to a match, everything was going my way. I took every chance I could. I got a little nervous towards the end of the second set, because everything was going kind of perfectly. Sometimes you get too excited and feel like you could walk on water. I managed to win the second set, and the third was really difficult,” concluded Casper Ruud.
