Emma Raducanu has made the decision to withdraw from next week’s Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers in The Hague, Netherlands, as she prioritizes her physical recovery following a grueling run to the quarter-finals of the Miami Open.
The 22-year-old Briton, who received medical attention during her defeat to Jessica Pegula in Miami, had a challenging match, requiring a medical timeout in the second set after a shaky performance while leading 5-4. She had her legs and back iced before continuing the match but eventually lost 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-2. Despite the loss, Raducanu impressed many with her four consecutive main draw victories in Miami, marking her best performance at a tournament since her historic U.S. Open win in 2021.
After a busy start to the year with seven tournaments played in the first three months, Raducanu and her team have opted to take a step back and give her body time to rest. She will also skip the Rouen Open starting April 14.

Raducanu’s withdrawal from the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers is a significant loss for the Great Britain team, as she was part of the squad that reached the semi-finals last year. Team captain Anne Keothavong expressed her disappointment, stating, “You always miss a player of her quality on the team.” Despite Raducanu’s absence, the team will still feature talented players including Katie Boulter, Sonay Kartal, Harriet Dart, and Olivia Nicholls.

Raducanu’s health and well-being remain a priority as she continues to work toward regaining her form and fitness. Fans will be hoping for her swift recovery as she takes the time to rest and recharge ahead of the next chapter in her tennis career.
