The former tennis star and former coach of Novak Djokovic, Boris Becker, see Alcaraz as the heir of the best generation in the history of tennis, but as the new record holder for the number of Grand Slam titles.
“Carlos is the legitimate heir of the big three, I am sure that he will dominate tennis next.” said the legendary German tennis player.
“It would be wrong to expect that he can surpass the figure of 20 Grand Slams. I am even more certain that never again will three tennis players in the same generation have more than 20 major trophies,” added Becker, who had six.
The youngest Wimbledon champion in history spares no compliments to this year’s winner.
“People come to the stadiums to watch Alcaraz, he is very important for tennis, he is its ambassador. Carlos is a spectacular player, but he is also very young. He is only 20 years old and he needs to be given time to develop so that he does not lose interest in the sport because tennis needs him for many years to come.” Becker pointed out.
On this occasion, the German referred to the announced return of Rafael Nadal.
“He will have to go through the valley of tears. He won’t be able to play at his best right away, but he has to play in Australia. After all, I’m sure that his goal is not to be at his best in Melburn, but at Roland Garros.” he concluded.
