Aaron Busuttil u Alex Borg remain unbeaten at the the Amateur World Snooker Championship

The two players who are representing our country during the World Snooker Championship in Golem, Albania have won the matches they played so far in during the group stage. Furthermore, Alex Borg has already made sure of the qualification for the next phase.

The Maltese Snooker champion, Aaron Busuttil today played against the Belgian Pechenart Olivier and won 3-1. Busuttil won the first frame but Olivier responded immediately and equalized but from then on Busuttil took command and controlled easily. In fact, in the last frame Busuttil made a break of 78 points and closed the game early. The scores of the four frames were 54-32; 14-66; 69-53 and 78-1.

It should be noted that Busuttil in the two games he has played so far had a slight disadvantage of not being able to play in his uniform as his suitcase did not arrive after the flights they had on Friday to arrive in Albania. He had to borrow uniforms from other players but at least after today’s game today he was informed that his suitcase had arrived.

Tomorrow he will play his last match of the group against the English Chae Ross as the other match that was scheduled for Wednesday will not be played after Muhammad Awais of Pakistan, who was also in Group A, withdrew.

Alex Borg, today, continued with the same positive rhythm of the previous two days and against the Albanian Fatosh Dervishaj he had an easy 3-0 victory. So far Borg didn’t loose a single frame and today dominated with results of 71-21; 71-40 and 104-9. Until now, along with the Thai youngster Wiphu Phuthisabodi are the only players who have not lost a frame in three matches although there are a number of other players who still have to playing their third match.

The Albanian, Dervishaj, yesterday handed a walk-over to the Englishman Connor Benzey who will be the opponent of the Maltese veteran tomorrow. This match can determine who will win Group C. Benzey is one of those players who from his first two matches has not lost a frame yet.
