Local hockey umpires Alessandro Amore and Edward Hughes have an international commitment in Gibraltar as they will control matches from the Euro Hockey Challenge Cup which will start today.
For Amore this is his first experience officiating in this competition. He gained remarkable experience at a local level during these years and therefore this international call was a well deserved one.
On the other hand, Edward Hughes gained remarkable experience in this type of competition and last season he became the first Maltese umpire to officiate the final of the Euro Hockey Challenge Cup.
Meanwhile today the Maltese teams come into action in their first game where Qormi face HC Luxembourg, while at 5pm, Trust Payments Floriana Young Stars have a difficult engagement against the host team of Eagles HC.
